Read Rufus Rhymes and Win a Commissioned Portrait by Ron

It’s simple.  October is “Adopt a Shelter Dog Month” and Ron Burns wanted a way to celebrate fellow dog rescuers and raise awareness for the millions of dogs currently available for adoption at shelters across the US.  So, he’s hosting a contest called “Reading Rufus Rhymes to Rover.”  Just by reading Rufus Rhymes, people can win... are you ready? A COMMISSIONED PET PORTRAIT! (That’s a prize worth about $30,000!)

Here’s how to enter:

Step 1:  Dust off that video camera, borrow your neighbors, rent one, whatever, just get a video camera!
Step 2:  Record yourself, a friend, a stranger (whoever) reading and/or singing a rhyme from Rufus Rhymes:  Modern Lullabies for Dog Lovers to your adopted dog (buy your copy here – www.rufusrhymes.com)
Step 3:  Edit, tweak, rerecord, edit, tweak, repeat, until video is perfect (make it funny, clever, or entertaining, because you want to get the most views)
Step 4:  Upload to video sharing site YouTube (www.youtube.com), title the video “Reading Rufus Rhymes to Rover Contest Entry” and tag with these words “Ron Burns, Rufus Rhymes.”
Step 5:  Send an e-mail to contest@burnsstudio.com letting us know that you’ve uploaded your video, include your first and last name along with your daytime phone number.  We need to know how to tell you that you’ve won! (If you win of course.)
Step 6:  Head over to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, your cell phone and whatever other way you can think of to tell your friends and family about your great video.  Getting the most views will help your video advance to the next round!  Plus, post a comment to Ron’s Facebook fan page to let him know about your video... he gets his own five votes you know... buttering him up couldn’t hurt!

Here’s how the winner is selected:

5 Fans Choices:  The five YouTube videos with the most views will go on to Round 2
5 Burns Picks:  Because you might not have a lot of friends using this crazy new gadget called the internet, Ron will pick five additional videos to go to Round 2

What’s this Round 2 all about?  Round 2 is where the 10 videos (selected in the above way) will be judged by a panel of expert dog lovers. 

Shut up... and tell me about the Prizes!

Grand Prize Winner:  Selected by the panel, the grand prize winner will receive one (1) commissioned 16 x 16 original, hand-painted by Ron himself, portrait of their pet!
Runner-Up Winners:  There will also be 4 runner-up winners, who will receive $100 Burns Gift Certificates to be used towards perhaps a purchase of their pets’ portrait

And, everyone gets a pat on the back for putting forth an effort! =)
